Home Energy Rating Both Existing Homes and New Homes can be rated for Energy Star Compliance. HERS Ratings are becoming a new standard across the nation. Rating an existing home may help you secure Energy Efficient Mortgages, Home Improvement loans, increase your resale value and more. Effective January 1, 2007, all new-construction homes financed through the Texas Veterans Housing Assistance Program (VHAP) must meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) new guidelines for ENERGY STAR® qualified homes. This includes completion of the Thermal Bypass Checklist, by a certified Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Rater, prior to wallboard being installed. New homes can possibly qualify for Energy Efficient Mortgages and the ENERGY STAR label on your home might increase the property value. More and more municipalities are turning
to the HERS rating system for
checking code compliance. We welcome you to contact us
if you need rating services. You can try to find a qualified HERS rater in your area here. If you are in the DFW area of Texas here is link to Texas Home Energy Professionals.
